Abstract

The rapid development of information and communication technology has transformed how communities access and utilize information. However, disparities in digital literacy remain a major challenge, particularly in rural areas. This community service activity aimed to strengthen digital literacy among residents of Bukit Tinggi Village, West Lombok Regency, through the Bakti PIK-M Cerah program of the University of Mataram. The method employed was systematic and participatory, consisting of needs identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation and reflection. The activity involved 35 participants, consisting of youth and community members. Activities were conducted through interactive lectures, group discussions, demonstrations, and hands-on practice in using digital technology safely and ethically. Evaluation was carried out using pre-test and post-test instruments as well as observation of participant engagement. The results showed a significant improvement in participants’ digital literacy, with the average score increasing from 56.3 (pre-test) to 81.7 (post-test), indicating an improvement of 45.1%. In addition, 85% of participants demonstrated a better understanding of digital ethics, and 78% were able to correctly identify potential risks in the digital environment. Participants also became more active and confident, as reflected in increased participation during discussions and practical sessions.Nevertheless, challenges were encountered, including varying levels of digital skills, limited facilities, and unequal internet access. These challenges were addressed through adaptive learning methods, the use of offline materials, and collaborative strategies among participants. Overall, this activity made a tangible contribution to strengthening community digital literacy and fostering ethical digital awareness as a foundation for building an adaptive, critical, and responsible society in the face of technological development.
