Abstract

The selection of a study program during the new student admission stage is a high-stakes decision because it affects the alignment of interests and abilities, academic adaptation, and career direc-tion. At Bima International University MFH, internal academic data for the 2023/2024 academic year indicate that approximately 15-20% of students showed early signs of study-program mis-match within the first two semesters, including lower GPA achievement, requests to transfer pro-grams, and study delays of about one to two semesters. This research develops a web-based Deci-sion Support System (DSS) for study-program recommendations using the Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) method. The system was developed using a Research and Development (R&D) approach operationalized through the Waterfall model, covering requirements analysis, system design, implementation, functional testing, calculation validation, and usability evaluation. User trials involved 40 students consisting of 20 science-track and 20 social-science-track respondents. The results show an overall recommendation agreement of 82.5%, with 85% agreement in the sci-ence group and 80% in the social-science group. Functional testing was conducted by an independ-ent student testing team, and usability evaluation using the System Usability Scale (SUS) obtained a final score of 75.35, which falls into the Good category. These findings indicate that the proposed DSS can support prospective students and academic services by providing structured, traceable, and accountable study-program recommendations.
